Iolani Basketball Loses 1st Preseason Game
After about a week of full practice (but missing 3 players from the football team), the Iolani Raider Boys Basketball team opened their 2006-07 season with a 56-55 overtime loss to the Moanalua Menehune. Down most of the game, the Raiders were able to mount a comeback tying the game on a 3-pointer with under a minute to play in regulation. Able to get the ball back with 13 seconds remaining and the score still tied, Iolani sophomore, Liloa Nobriga, got off two final shots but was not able to convert. In overtime, the game went back and forth with each team missing a number of freethrows and no team taking a lead larger than a few points. Down one, Iolani had the final possession but was not able to get a shot off before time expired. The team was led by senior Case Miyahira who scored 21 points including six 3-pointers.
