High School Musical: A “Fun” Show

Before a sold out crowd that had people standing in line as early as 2 hours before the show, Iolani School closed out their 3-day production of Disney’s High School Musical on Saturday night at Hawaii Theatre with a “fun” performance that left an indelible smile on nearly every adult, student and child in attendance.

Brad LawsonIn starring roles for the production were several of the school’s top athletes including water polo player Josh Busse and volleyballers Risa Ka’awa and 2006 ILH Player of the Year Brad Lawson.

Busse and Ka’awa starred as the play’s two main characters, “Troy Bolton” and “Gabriella Montez”, while Lawson played a supporting role as “Zeke Baylor”. For those that don’t know, besides being rated among the top in his class nationally in volleyball, Lawson is also a member of the school’s elite “Hokuloa” chorus. In December of 2005, he performed a solo in the school’s annual Christmas concert at St. Andrew’s Cathedral. Listen here »
