For a generation of sports fans, Les Keiter was the most trusted voice in radio and television, calling some of the past century’s defining boxing matches and pioneering the baseball re-create, where, alone in a studio with only game stats and a microphone, he created the atmosphere of a live game with just his voice and minimal sound effects.

Cindy is in Hawaii, the family’s home for three decades, to offer a hilarious and moving tribute about his accomplished career, the disappointments each have experienced and how they overcame life’s losses.

Community Outreach Player of the Year: Keoni Derenne

Keoni DerenneIn his first year with the York Revolution, a minor league club that plays in the Independent League, Keoni Derenne ‘97 made as big a contribution off the field as he did on and after finishing the season third on the team in batting average (.302), fourth in total hits (100), third in runs scored (57), second in doubles (23) and second in stolen bases (19)… that’s saying quite a bit.

At the team’s final home game, Keoni was named the Community Outreach Player of the Year — given to the player who made the biggest impact on the York community throughout the season.

From the York website:
“Every player signed by the Revolution is expected to attend practice and games, and is also expected to give 100% effort on the field each night. It’s not the player’s job to visit schools and hospitals, to sign autographs and to make appearances throughout the region. However, De Renne spent time making appearances and was usually the last person to leave the field each night, signing autographs for anyone who asked.”

In the second half, sophomore defensive back Landon Patoc ‘06 picked off a Logger pass in Stag territory to spark a 10 play, 73-yard drive that resulted in a CMS field goal.
