Iolani Girls Volleyball: Raiders upset Kamehameha

Lauren MinkelThe Iolani Girls Volleyball team improved to 8-0 on the season after upsetting the top-ranked Kamehameha Warriors 22-25, 25-21, 25-19 at before a raucous home crowd at Iolani Gym. Coming into the game, the Warriors were ranked No.1 in the state and No.3 in the nation according to prepvolleyball.com while the Raiders were No.2 and No.47, respectively.

Leading the way for Iolani were senior outside hitters Leinani Keanini with 11 kills and Lauren Minkel (shown) with 10 kills and 3 blocks.

And don’t forget about the Raider faithful who prompted a quote from Kamehameha head coach (and former Iolani assistant) Chris Blake, “…this is a hostile environment. Hats off to their band and to their fans.”
