Iolani Basketball: Boys Clinch State Berth
With a 55-51 win over St. Louis yesterday evening, the Iolani Boys Basketball team clinched a berth to the 2008 Hawaii Basketball State Tournament and guaranteed themselves at least a chance to play for the ILH title.
At 10-2, the Raiders are a half game up on Punahou (9-2) who need a win tonight against Maryknoll to force a one-game playoff. The Buffanblu have already locked up a state tournament berth and are hoping to get a chance to play Iolani for a fourth time this season in a final game for all the marbles.
A Punahou loss would give the Raiders the ILH Championship outright. A win would setup a winner-take-all match on Friday, February 8 at 8:00pm at Neal Blaisdell Center to determine the champion.
Don’t forget about the girls! The Iolani Girls Basketball team will face the Kamehameha Warriors on Thursday, February 7 for the second and final berth to state tournament. The game will begin at 7:30pm at Neal Blaisdell Center (Televised on OC16).
