Weekend Wrapup: Basketball & Soccer
There’s Good News & Bad News…
The good news is that I just saved a ton of money on my car insurance… just kidding. The “real” good news is that the Iolani Boys Basketball team captured the ILH Championship by defeating the Punahou Buffanblu 54-51 in a single game playoff on Friday evening at Neal Blaisdell Center.
The win also gives the Raiders a seeded berth to the 2008 Hawaii Basketball State Tournament which runs from February 20-23. Iolani will be trying for its sixth championship in seven years when they open play in the quarterfinal round on Thursday, February 21st (after a first round bye).
The Girls Basketball team will open state tournament play on Tuesday, February 19th. Location and time are to be determined.

Now for the bad news… the ILH Champion Iolani Boys Soccer team fell to the Kamehameha Warriors on penalty kicks in the finals of the 2008 Hawaii Soccer State Tournament.
After playing to a 1-1 tie in regulation and two scoreless overtime periods, the Warriors outshot the Raiders 4-2 in penalty kicks to earn the title. Read the details from the Honolulu Advertiser »
